Iznik Hagia Sophia Museum is 75 km (46 mile) far to Bursa centurum. The historical Hagia Sophia Church of Iznik was constructed  by the Byzantine on the Gymnasium  of the Romans which was built in 4th  Century B.S. Converted to mosque in the period of Orhan Gazi in 1331, later on the mosque was renewed by Sinan the Architect  and a new minaret replaced the burned down minaret. According to the experts, this historical building continues different construction materials  of different periods and also traces of different architectural styles. It is believed that the first layer of the building was finished in 4th  Century.

This holy place, which serves as a museum, is an important place also that has been considered sacred for the Christians because the Orthodox Consule of 787 was gathered in here.

This gathering as a result made ‹znik as an important place in believe tourism. In the museum there are remains of ceramics and tomb stones from the Byzantine era. It is open to the visits as a Monumental-Museum.
