Çine Beekeeping Museum is 41 km (25 mile) far to Aydin centurum. This study is a 4004 TÜBİTAK project about ecology based environmental education which was carried at Çine Beekeeping Museum in Aydın in 2011. The aim of the project was to introduce honeybee, its function for human life and ecological equilibrium to a total number of 97, 5th year students of primary schools in 5 groups from low socio economic statue. The students are to be selected from several primary schools in disadvantaged areas and SHÇEK (the Foundation of Child Protection and Social Services) in Aydın. By this project a learning and teaching environment at the museum was created in order to show how important the honeybee for human life. Traces of honeybee which had a considerable effect on pollination of plants from the early ages to modern times in Anatolia were presented to the students. Moreover, by the help of honeybee family which live in colonies the students were to be explained about the values of social life, collaboration, solidarity and the meaning of devotion for humans. Again, the students were to understand how nectar, pollen, propels and water were needed for sustaining the honeybee’s presence by showing the example of bee products, presenting how human used them, teaching how to make and by taking the students to the natural environments of the honeybee where they lived. Another aim of this project was to establish a significant relation between the environment and participant students and to provide information to the students to be interested in nature and apiculture activities. The students were to understand that there is a positive correlation between “environmentally positive behaviour” and “ecocentric approach”. In addition, it was tried to contribute the students to gain this ecocentric approach and behave in environmentally friendly manner by teaching the elements of the “natural environment”. Educational activities were supported by modern student centered, visual, and active techniques. Drama in education was also used as one of these tools.
