Safranbolu Town also known as Safranbolu Town Conservation. Conservation of a historic town spanning over 1000 years, and visited annually by 200,000 tourists. Safranbolu’s well-organized streets, pedestrian zones, and picturesque squares were included in this substantial conservation project. The town’s residential buildings are mainly built out of wood and mud brick with stone-bearing ground floors, and the mosques and public bathhouses are constructed out of stone. Local masons and carpenters carried out all restoration work, using the same materials as in the original construction, renovating over 135 historic houses.
