The Snake Church is 17 km (10 mile) far to Nevsehir centurum. It is known as The Snake Church because of frescos which are about four sinner women attacked by snakes on its western walls. It has also portraits of some reputable Cappadocian Saints on the both sides of the church`s vaults.

The story of Saint Onuphrius who gave her name to the church is: Onuphrius who was a loose woman sworn off living like that and was a repentant. She begged God to protect her from the men. God uglified her with beard and moustache and sanctified her as saint.

With interesting snake figures and frescoes about historical people The Snake Church is a place flocked by tourists every year.
