The Church with Grapes is 17 km (10 mile) far to Nevsehir centurum.  Nevşehir possesses the feature of being one of the most important centers where vine cultivation has been made for centuries in Anatolia.  This situation can easily be seen in a majority of the depicts included in the structures in the region of Cappadocia. It is possible to see the best example of the figures related to the grapes in Uzumlu Church (the Church with Grapes), as is evident from its name.

The ceiling of the Church has a rich embellishment.  The cross motif consisting of a circle and rectangle on an orange colored background, the grape bunches around it and geometrical motifs have been portrayed. Due to the fact that the walls of the upper section are partly ruined, the embossed cross situated on the ceiling can easily be seen from outside.

If you, too, want to see this different church with walls decorated with grape and cross motifs, Uzumlu Church (the Church with Grapes) in Urgup awaits you.
