Ramadan, the 1434th anniversary will be celebrated this year. The 29 days of Ramadan will come to the end on eve on August 7th. The Sweet Festival will start on Thursday August 8th and draw to a close on saturday August 10th.

Ramadan will fall in July this year. Which means that fasting will take place on very hot and long days. Istanbul, as well as the whole country, is ready for Ramadan. It is expected that a big crowd will participate in the street iftars(breaking time of fast) that will be held in Istanbul as in other cities. It’s expected that some sacred places such as Oruc Baba Shrine and Eyup Sultan Mosque will swarm with adherents this year too.

Turkish Airlines organized a special campaign for domestic flights because of Ramadan. Passangers are able to fly one way for 94 Turkish Lira including during the campaign.
